When it comes to the heart, many of us think immediately about the concept of love. But there are many aspects to our heart center. Our heart center, or heart chakra is where love either flows or it doesn’t. So let’s look at a couple of reasons why love may not be flowing or be flowing very weakly.
Self-love
First, we can’t give away what we don’t have. Ultimately we need to determine if we even love ourselves. How do we know if we have self-love? Begin by asking these questions: Do you allow others to talk down to you? Do you take care of your physical, spiritual, and emotional bodies? Do you put yourself down or don’t try new things because you doubt yourself or your abilities? Do you have a strong inner critic? If the answer is ‘yes’ to any of these questions – you may want to take a closer look to see if you have issues with self-love. Self-love isn’t really a topic that is really talked about – and can be quite a nebulous topic until we begin to do our inner work. Then this topic begins to take center stage. There are many things that we can do to work on self-love. One of the first things to do is to begin to look at areas in your life where you may not be acting out of self-love by your actions or lack of action. Ask yourself “would a person who loves themselves do/not do/say/not say XYZ?” Become more conscientious of your thoughts/words and actions. One of the tools that we have in arsenal to use for increasing self-love is crystals. Crystals emit an energetic vibration that aligns with our emotional energetic areas. The crystals that can assist us with self-love in particular are rose quartz and rhodochrosite.
Release heartache
If we have experienced heartache in the past with previous relationships, we may be holding on to painful memories and create blocks from love to flow in and out of our heart centers. Counseling, journaling and energy clearing techniques can all be used to assist in releasing painful emotions associated with heartaches. Some crystals that can be used to assist us are: chrysocolla, kunzite and rhodonite. If you are looking for a very strong heart healer – try moldavite. I’ve personally experienced the heart opening and clearing effects of moldavite. You may not even be aware of the pain that is stored up inside. That is how powerful moldavite can be.
Trust
Trust is a big one. If you’ve ever been betrayed by someone – you know how hard it can be to be open, trusting and willing to share your heart with another person again. I think trust and self-love go hand-in-hand. Someone may lose our trust, but that shouldn’t color our feelings about other people in general. Maybe someone had a lack in judgement, or maybe they just aren’t a trustworthy person at the end of the day. That shouldn’t color our future expectations of other people. We need to dust off ourselves and continue to love ourselves and expect the best in others going forward. If we aren’t willing be open, then we won’t be able to connect with others on a deep level – which is such a part of the Human Experience here on Earth. I think the biggest part of trust is to be willing to forgive others. This is where the Hawaiian Ho’oponopono practice can help. It says “I am sorry. Please forgive me. Thank you. I love you.” If you suffer from trust issues – try incorporating speaking these short 4 phrases every day and see how they help you transmute these negative emotions around the heart. To assist with trust issues, chrysoprase is one of the best stones to use.
Loneliness
Another heart-centered emotion that we may feel from time to time is loneliness. Even when in relationships – we may feel misunderstood or disconnected from our partner. But ultimately – what is going on here? I think loneliness ultimately stems from the misperception of our Source/God connection. Over the years, we forget who we are. We forget our own divinity. We forget what wonderful soul beings that we are. And in this fast-paced society – it is very easy to do. So how do we reconnect back to our own inner divinity? I think there are a few ways we can do this. One is by creating a Gratitude Journal. Each morning write 5 things that you are grateful for in your life. Once you start to begin to appreciate the little things that you take for granted – a comfortable bed, a nice home to live in, the ability to walk - for instance. You will turn this negative nelly train around and begin to see the joy that exists all around you – which will then in turn help stimulate your own sense of worth and sense of self. Watch comedies! Listen to music that lifts your spirit (not sappy country songs 😊 ) The best crystal to use for loneliness is Snowflake obsidian which balances the body, mind and spirit as well as releasing thought patterns that no longer serve.
Increasing love
What if we have dealt with our issues of self-love and past heartaches and simply want to increase the amount of love into our life? The spoken word is very powerful. Make a practice to state positive loving affirmations on a daily basis: “Love flows into my life easily and effortlessly”, “ I am loved beyond measure!” “I have more love than I know what to do with!” Lol – you get the idea. Rose quartz is an amazing crystal that should be incorporated into everyone’s life to increase the flow of loving energies. I’d wear it, place it in your home, office – anywhere you are – I’d keep pieces around. Kunzite is another crystal that is very activating for the heart chakra increasing the high vibration of unconditional love.
How do we use crystals for the heart?
When it comes to using crystals for the heart chakra there are a few different ways. You can purchase tumbles (small pieces of tumbled stones), and carry a few of the same or a few different ones that resonate with the heart chakra in a small bag and take them with you. I will put together a few and take them with me in my handbag and keep them by me while I work, etc. You can also wear crystal bracelets, pendants, or earrings. You can meditate with the tumbles, or lie down with the specific crystals on the heart chakra and relax for 15 minutes. You can place larger pieces of crystals throughout your home to increase the frequency of love in your environment.
